BYD DM (dual mode) hybrid electric vehicles project was started in 2003. Currently, 500 auto engineers are working on the project. DM is the abbreviation of Dual Mode. BYD DM (Dual Mode) electric vehicle incorporates a pure electric driving system and hybrid electric driving system into one. DM hybrid system integrates an advanced generator as well as motor control, which not only brings lower fuel consumption and emission but also higher performance.
It uses multiple energy supplies via both recharging and refueling, which is dual mode hybrid system. If we call an electric drive system “EV” and the hybrid electric system as “HEV”, then BYD DM is “EV + HEV”. This system will take the place of the electric-gasoline hybrid system, and become one of the most popular new energy efficient systems in the world. |
